List Policies

Here’s a list of policies in place on all Global-level Camarilla Lists. Other Camarilla lists at the National, Regional, and Domain level probably make use of these policies as well, so it’s a good idea to know them even if you don’t participate on the global lists.

Subject Lines

The subject line of your post should summarize the content of your post. “Praxis Boston”, “Game Announcement”, or “Ride Wanted to NERE” are all good subject lines. “RE: re: RE: FWD: RE: F: hey!”, “IC POST”, and “?????” are all bad subject lines. Please take the few seconds needed to make your subject line add to the quality of the post.

Additionally, if your post contains graphic descriptions of sex, violence, or other similar material, include a content warning in the subject of the message. For instance, “[Contains Graphic Violence]”.

Trim Your Quotes

Often, a discussion on these mailing lists can get rather lengthy.
When replying to a message, make sure that you quote only the relevant
portions of the previous text. More importantly, do this *in context*.

Rather than putting your reply at the top and then quoting a long
passage below, split the quote up into multiple portions, replying to
each segment in turn. This helps tremendously in allowing everyone to
follow along with what can frequently be a trememndous amount of
content.

Do not quote the entire post unless it is quite short. Nobody likes to get a message with 15kb of quoted text and one line of “Me too!”.

Signatures

All posts must include an OOC signature containing your full first and last name as listed in the Camarilla Membership Database and your Camarilla Membership Number. After this required information, you may include a list of Camarilla position which you hold if they are appropriate to the list.

On in-character lists, you may or may not include an IC signature. An IC signature is not required, as per the AMST Lists, but your email may still be matched up with others sent to the list to determine who sent them. Impersonation of other characters via email signature is not allowed without approval from the the AMST Lists and the List Moderator.

Avoid excessive signatures. There’s no need for a 6-line signature containing every position you’ve ever held and three different quotes. Try for three or four lines maximum.

OOC Content on In-Character Lists

Do not make purely out-of-character posts to in-character lists. The only people allowed to make such announcements are national and global level Storytellers. If you have an OOC announcement that you really feel must go out on the IC list, talk to the list moderator.

You can include small amounts of OOC prefaces or footnotes in an IC post so long as it does not make up the majority of the post. Clearly denote which sections are OOC and which sections are IC.

Infiltrators

If you’re an infiltrator to an IC list (you do not have the appropriate character type or status to be on the list), you must have an Infiltrator application approved in the approvals database at Top, and you must notify both the list moderator and the AMST Lists.

Violation of List Policies and Administrative Action

For most of the above policies, your first offense will result in a warning. Your second offense will result in being placed on “moderated status” which means that your posts will require approval by the list moderator before the system will send them out over the list. Your third offense will result in suspension from the list, with possible suspension from additional Camarilla mailing lists depending on the severity of the offense.

Re-subscription and being taken off moderated status are possible over time with adherence to the list policies.

Violation of the Camarilla Code of Conduct in a fashion that requires disciplinary action generally results in immediate moderation or suspension from the list and Coordinator action.

Please keep in mind that being placed on moderated status or being suspended from the use of a list is an adminstrative action and is not a disciplinary action as defined by the Membership Handbook. These policies exist to keep the lists usable for everyone. Many lists have hundreds of subscribers and thousands of messages per month; these rules keep everything from devolving into unintelligible noise.

Honor Policy

Subscriptions to the Camarilla mailing lists are no longer manually verified through your Coordinator and Storyteller. Instead, we now rely on a simple Honor Policy.

When you subscribe to an IC list, you will be asked to agree to a simple honor statement verifying that you portray a character permitted to be on the list.

Lying when agreeing to this honor statement and subscribing to lists that you should not have access to will result in harsh disciplinary action. Please just stick to what you should have access to and keep the honor policy working for everyone.

Spamming

Spamming falls under its own special policy. If you spam any of the Camarilla mailing lists, accidental or not, you will be immediately unsubscribed from all Camarilla mailing lists until the situation that caused the spam is resolved.
